Saturday

Things that I am grateful for today:

  • "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends". Seasons 1 and 2 arrived from our very, very lovely friends at Amazon. This may be Josiah and Annika's new favorite cartoon. It's cute but not overly so, so that Hans and I can watch it and be entertained as well. Which is important, right?
  • Getting to the commissary before the Saturday rush, getting the "good" parking spot in the corner under the tree. Having Annika help me count out cherry tomatoes and pick out bananas. Finding everything on our list--sometimes there's no milk. True story. Getting in and getting back out before the weekend crush.
  • Annika taking a nice, almost two hour nap after lunch.
  • Watching another episode of "Mad Men"...I'm going back through Season 2 because Season 3 starts soon. I'm looking forward to it, even though the only way for me to see it is to download it on iTunes and watch it on the computer. Luckily for me, we have a nice, big monitor.
  • Going for a walk with Annika after her nap. She brought her baby and buggy along and we chatted about mommy things, then we stopped at a playground for awhile where she employed herself picking up acorns for half an hour.
  • Josiah was self-sufficient all day long. He bathes, he brushes his teeth, he dresses, he even cleaned up his room. He entertained himself all day with Thomas and Legos. Even though I kept checking with him to see if he wanted to go outside, he was very content with his own company today.
  • Now we're watching a couple more episdoes of "Foster's" and I'm going to make some popcorn in a minute, I have a caffeine-free Coke waiting that has been in the freezer just long enough to burn going down...ahhhh.
  • Oh, and it's Hans' turn to put the kids to bed. Yippeee!!!

What are you grateful for today?

I am grateful for my family especially, and for our military members that stand ready 24/7/365. You can be proud of yours too, by the sound of it.

Oh, I'm grateful for SO much, and it changes minute by minute, sometimes less than that! This morning (Monday), I was grateful to wake up and realize we escaped the wind and hail that was forecast. And we have another beautiful day in Minnesota today. I was grateful for our wildflowers on the deck, which have just given us so much fun waiting to see what blooms next! I was grateful for my nice hot shower and for that smiling face that I woke up to. :) I'm grateful to come to work and see my friends and share the weekend news. And that's just in the little time since I've been awake! I'm always grateful for new blogs too! Great idea, Rach. We all have so much to be grateful for....
Rachel, this is such a great idea!
