Mittwoch, I am grateful for:

  • The fact that it is midweek. This has been a busy week and I'm thankful that it is halfway over. I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend.
  • Hans' toe looks very good. We went in and watched the nurse change his bandage this morning. I thought I should watch since I would probably have to rewrap it for him, but the doctor informed us that a band-aid will do after tomorrow. Annika came along and watched too.
  • The child development center. Both kids were supposed to go today while Kathy and I went to Rothenburg again, but Josiah begged to stay home and take care of Daddy, so Annika went on her own. I think she had a great time, judging by the amount of pink paint covering her clothing and hair. Seriously, she had pink streaks in her hair. It all came out of her clothes and her hair...so I guess I'm also thankful for:
  • Whoever invented washable paint and markers. God bless you.
  • A beautiful sunny day and an uneventful, traffic-free drive over to Rothenburg.
  • Being able to browse a few more of the adorable little shops in Rothenburg--much easier to do without kids along!
  • Four new pieces of salt-glazed pottery, including one very large bowl, which was my splurge piece. I think that brings my number up to 12-13 pieces. I may try to go back down to the antique dealer and see if I can get a few older pieces.
  • Lunch outdoors under an umbrella in the beautiful Rathaus platz. Yum, Bavarian cubesteak (sort of like hamburgers) and kartoffeln (boiled potatoes). And Aunt Kathy bought.
  • Coming home to a happy girl and a happy boy and a husband who continues to be fairly pain free. He's going to take it easy for the rest of the week and go back to work on Monday.
  • Leftovers for supper, so I didn't have to cook. Come to think of it:
  • Not having to cook ALL day!
  • Cheap maternity clothes at Old Navy and Gap, so that I can almost constantly be ordering a couple of new things...which helps when one feels like a lumpy, water-retaining walrus. And also helps when one suddenly is extremely clumsy and ruins three shirts in a two day period.
  • Watching Josiah playing in the sandbox with his trains, the sun setting in his hair. Realizing how precious are the days he's still tolerating having his Mommy lingering around the sandbox. Only about four more weeks until kindergarten.

I think that's it for now. We're going to stay closer to home tomorrow and hopefully take it easy and Friday I'm thinking of Strasbourg...stay tuned.

I'm impressed with your long list of things for which to give thanks. It makes me start thinking of my own list:

1) Hans, Rachel, Josiah, Annika and the newest angel.
2) Peder, Sarah, Aurelia.
3) Heidi, Chad, Marshall.
4) and the list goes on. . .

Oh, I should have mentioned something else. I'm so excited to see all of your salt-glazed pottery. Someday you can inherit mine to add to your wonderful collection.

Yes! The washable marker inventor should be canonized.

I canNOT believe Joe is starting kindergarten. He's gonna knock their socks off.

Maybe Joe and Annie will doctors in the future. Not too many kiddos would want to be around to watch and take care of wounded Daddys. I am glad that you are treasuring these days because it seems like yeaterday that we brought you home from the hospital. Take care, take pictures in your heart.

Rats, I should proofread better. It's yesterday in the next to the last sentence.
