I stink.  I should totally be in the shower.  Housekeeping is going to be here and I look and smell wretched and Annika got chocolate smeared on the sheets, so I have to personally remove the sheets so that the housekeeper doesn't think that my daughter dirtied the bed.  It's super important that I don't offend the housekeeper, obviously. Well.  This has been an interesting few days.  I think you all know about our stressful last week.  To add to the pleasure of a completely messed up car and the stress of shoving every last bit of our junk into a POD and quickly slamming the door shut, Josiah was sick all last week.  He missed his entire last week of school.  We stopped by for five minutes so he could wave from a safe distance and pick up his yearbook and desk contents. That was Thursday, also the last day in the house and the day that I smashed into someone else on the highway.  Okay, just in case you're one of the people who haven't he...

Last Post From Crosswood Lane...

One last post from Crosswood Lane.  It's almost 8:00 in the morning.  Josiah isn't going to school again today--this is the third day of a not-too-incapcitating fever, but a fever nonetheless.  I'm afraid that he's going to miss his last day of school, but since I don't have control over that, I'm just going to see what tomorrow brings. He and Annika don't seem to be overly sad that they're leaving school and their friends behind.  Maybe they're still a little young to grasp the concept that we aren't coming back.  Or maybe they are truly that flexible and resilient, ready for a new adventure. It doesn't matter what place we leave, the last couple of weeks are always a little surreal.  We're moving half an hour from Chesapeake, but it still means leaving behind this little corner of the world in which we've lived, loved, laughed, fought and made memories.  No matter how many times we do it and whether it's up the road or acros...
