Josiah and our coal-fired train Built in 1950 (and wow, sitting in an open car behind the coal smoke was heady ) Will in his new wheels, waiting with Grandma for us to get off the train Hans, Josiah & Annika climbed the observation tower Checking out the ducks--Josiah later came home and declared he might like to "shoot a duck" someday. I told him to call Uncle Scuba. Annika and a miniature horse foal/colt Josiah and the donkeys Annika on the merry-go-round So, I know posting has been light lately, but that's due to many factors, including the fact that my mother-in-law is here, we've been travelling, I've been studying, I didn't have anything too newsworthy to share, and the series finale of Lost was on and has rendered me inconsolable. It was pretty darn good, though there are about 142 questions that we'll never get the answers to! More blogging soon.

Josiah & Clara - he's twirling her! Annika & Garrett A very happy almost 6-year-old Friday marked our third (and hopefully final) annual Sock Hop at Patch Elementary School. We went in 2008 with Jen, Carson & Nicholas. We went in 2009 with Angela, Nathan & Noah. This was the first year that we actually have a student attending Patch Elementary, so that made it even more fun, since Josiah's friends, classmates and girlfriends were all there! When I picked him up from school on Friday afternoon, he was with his friend Clara. They declared they would be dancing together at the sock hop. I asked him if he was planning on dancing with anyone else: "No, I just want to dance with Clara". When we got home, he kept going on and on about the Sock Hop. He insisted on getting his hair spiked because he thought Clara would like it. When we finally got to the school, he disappeared while we were standing in line for our hot dog supper.
