Quickly tonight. I'm making cookies for my invalid.

  • I'm grateful that Hans' surgery went well, that we were there on time, found parking without a problem and that the actual procedure was quick and painless for him. I sat in the waiting room, listened to my iPod and journaled.
  • I'm grateful that Hans seems to be handling the pain very well. As long as he takes his painkillers in a timely fashion, he's in pretty good shape.
  • I'm grateful for a nice, sunny day to drive over to Schloss Lichtenstein. Unfortunately, Kathy didn't get to take the tour. For some reason, the tours now last 2-1/2 hours. We did it once and it lasted around 30 minutes. Mom, Dad--how long do you recall it taking? Obviously, she couldn't leave us out on the playground for 2-1/2 hours, so she toured just the gardens.
  • I'm grateful for the playground at Lichtenstein, the friendly German kids who kept Annika occupied, and the fact that Josiah and Annika suddenly became avid collectors of bottlecaps and started running all over the playground picking them up and digging them out of the dirt. This kept them busy for at least 30 minutes, maybe more and they played together so nicely. Future archeologists?

Tomorrow, Kathy and I hope to head to Rothenburg. But first I have to drive Hans back to the podiatrist to get his bandages changed and then drop Annika at the CDC...

You're one grateful woman. That's good!

Yes, keeping ahead of the pain by taking painkillers timely is very smart. I'm pretty sure that tour only took about 1/2 hour. I know it wasn't any 2 1/2 hours. Maybe they've found some secret rooms! Take care of yourself too!

Having a surgery go well is indeed something for which to be grateful. As is the presence of sedatives/painkillers.

Hans and I can compare scars sometime when you guys get back to the States *dry laugh*!

I must agree with your Mom yet again, I am sure that the tour was not 2 1/2 hours long. I would have enjoyed spending that much time there though. Were the people sliding through the trees on the zip lines when you were there? That was a beautiful location for a castle. I guess that it was location, location, location even then. Take care and I have some good scars too come to think of it.
