From yesterday and today (thus far):

  • Noticing that Annie still has dimples above her elbows and just a little baby chubbiness around her knees and wrists yet...she's growing up so quickly, it's nice to see a few reminders that she's still my baby.
  • Playing outside yesterday with an eight pack of bubbles...we came back inside with a three pack. Some were spilled, some were dumped in the sand, some were shared with other kids, but for a few minutes everyone was blissfully happy. It's true that some of the best things in life are free or extremely cheap. I can't believe how excited kids get over bubbles, even five-year-olds.
  • Tomatoes. My downstairs neighbors had to make an emergency trip back to the States, which is not good, but the good part is that they have been growing a ton of veggies out in front of the building and told the rest of our stairwell to "help ourselves" while they're gone. The first tomatoes are just coming in, and yes, I'm making sure to help myself. To me, there's nothing as fine as a plate of fresh sliced tomatoes! I keep thinking that maybe next year, wherever we are, we'll have a garden and I maybe, just maybe will finally sucessfully grow some tomatoes.
  • Ultrasound tomorrow to check Will's size and weight and various things. Hopefully we'll verify that he is indeed a HE and not a she, though it was pretty obvious 12 weeks ago. Hans is going to come along on this trip as he hasn't seen any of Will's ultrasounds. He came to Josiah's one ultrasound, but I think he never saw Annika's. I'm also going to start nagging my OB about her promise to send me in if I'm making progress like I did with Annika. I've been reading up on "precipitous labor", defined as labor lasting less than three hours. According to everything I read, it happens to around 2% of women and the chances of it happening again are very high, statistically. So I want to make sure our ducks are in a row.
  • Watching Hans and Josiah playing the Lego Star Wars game on the Wii last night. Our neighbors just purchased a Wii and when the kids found out, they recalled that WE also have a Wii (haha), that has been gathering dust. So I suggested that Josiah try out the Star Wars game...he had some difficulties because of the different buttons and functions, but he was super-excited to play and as quickly as he picks things up, I think with a little practice, he will get better. Hans played with him for awhile...I love that Josiah is starting to get of an age where he and his daddy can work on some projects together, like Star Wars Lego projects.
  • Josiah's sometimes very sweet attitude. He'll ask me "How's Will doing?" or last night when I was peeling potatoes for supper, he came and asked "Mama, how's your peeling going?".

OK, those are a few things that I'm grateful for as of today...I'm sure there are many more, but my poor befuddled, probably water-retaining brain just forgets things way too quickly. I've started carrying around a notebook...that ought to be interesting to read someday!

Aw...Joe is so sweet. He has a very strong sensitive side, which is very admirable in a male. And, yikes, Annie looked so grown-up in that first picture, like how she's gonna look in a few years when she can't have that piece of clothing she wants or go out with someone she wants to. Yikes!
Enjoy those tomatoes...I'm envious!

Ah yes, fresh tomatoes. It sems as if you cannot buy good ones, they must come directly off the plant to your plate.
