AND...
We finally sold our house. For real, for sure, forEVER.
Had a little scare earlier in the week when our realtor called to tell us that our buyer had taken a new job. Within the same company, but he would be making about $1500/year less. The banks in California are freaking out so much about foreclosures and funding people (who can blame them, really?) that we had to jump through some hoops to keep the sale intact. Basically, we had to lower the house price by $1500. It was either that or move on to seller #4.
We went with the $1500 discount. It really doesn't amount to much at the end of the day. Our amazing realtor is getting almost no commission because he keeps lowering his rate to make up for the crap we've had to go through...I feel kind of guilty about that because he sold us the house and now is selling it for us and he has been amazing for both events. If anyone reading this needs a great realtor in San Diego, please e-mail me!
Ali, our realtor, called us the minute the paperwork was finished on Friday. Now we're just waiting for our big check to land in the bank, should be tomorrow. We thought it would be there on Friday, but that was jumping the gun a bit...however, I still checked the bank about 68 times. I can't feel finalized with this mess until the moment the money arrives. I am just so thankful that it is finally over!
It is a little cooler today, thank God. Or maybe it's just because the little window A/C has been cranking out cool air for over 24 hours now. I have all the shades drawn and we're all hunkered down in the cool dimness.
Josiah is being much better behaved today. He's only had to sit on the naughty step once, for pushing his sister. This is a chronic behavior. Right now, he's trying to convince me that coloring with markers is better than blogging. He's probably right. He seems to be having a grand time coloring his feet, although I put the kibosh on that in a hurry. I'm such a buzzkill. Poor Joe, just another henpecked male in the house! But on a positive note, since I've been complaining about my eldest a lot lately...he was extremely well-behaved in Target on Friday, and what's better, he's even taken to using the bathroom all by himself. He shuts the door and tells me he doesn't need any help. And he does pretty well. There's only a small amount of cleanup involved. This is a huge step in the pottytraining wars...the ability to not have us constantly asking if he has to go. AND, he's been dressing himself for awhile, too. OK, so the cool GAP dinosaur underwear ends up backwards sometimes and he can't snap or button, but he sure tries.
Just wanted to say something positive about him, since the last couple of posts have been full of complaints about our constant standoffs. He's one great kid.
