What William Willett Did

If you're curious (and extremely bored): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time

Thanks William, for your lasting legacy and for the fact that my kids have been up for the last four mornings at 5:12 a.m.

Oh well, it gives us a lot of time together as a family in the morning. We watched two episodes of Mork & Mindy this morning while the adults were still trying to wake up. Hey, don't look at me--Hans put them in our queue at Netflix. Actually, watching it is nice because it's fairly tame and wholesome, so we can watch it in front of the kids. They think Mork's suspenders are hilarious. I enjoy looking at the clothes (which look surprisingly fashionable, hmmmm) and the background stuff, like decorations in the house. I'm like, woah--we totally had one of those owl figures with the macrame and the hanging bamboo bits. And those cream-colored pillows with the long fringe. Totally had those on the couch too. Jan probably spent hours smoothing all the fringe the right direction.

She's going to say I don't remember any cream-colored pillows with fringe!?

This post went off on a strange tangent.

I'm getting my shopping list ready to go for our trip. T-minus 11 days and counting. Josiah announces how many more days are left every morning. Yes, I already have my list done and the suitcase in our room with some things in it. Hans keeps saying You have so many more days to pack! You'd think by now he'd realize that I like to be prepared beforehand. Way beforehand. Gen and I joke about the packing schematic...she thinks I'm kidding, but I really do plan how I'm going to put everything in the suitcase. Gen belongs to the Hans D4 school of packing: do it 20 minutes before you leave for your flight.

That's probably changed since she's had kids...

Anyway to wrap up: curse daylight savings time, Mork & Mindy is fun for the kids and the kitsch, and I am half-packed and ready to visit Target as soon as it opens on November 10th.

Enjoy your day!

Yeah, plus DST is causing droughts so they really should do away with it altogether.

I had a pair of Mork suspenders when I was a kid. Oh, they were so cool! I may have to put M&M in our queue too.

Hurry up with that packing. we can't wait to see you guys!

You are getting a Target!!!! Yeah. I sent Chad yesterday for me. I feel a little empty. I might have to go myself and just walk around!
DST time means I have to walk Brian so much earlier in the day. I like evening walks. Let do away with it.

That's three votes against DST.

No, we're not getting a Target...I wish. Then Germany would be perfect. I'm talking about November 10th, when I'm in Minnesota.

Hey Heidi--how about a belly shot? We want to see you!

Smart investors should be buying stock in Target cause when you get back here to shop...

Robin Williams was at his best in Mork and Mindy. I wonder what happened to those pillows...

(I use ... too much I think.)

First..."whoa" is spelled like that. Not "woah" or whatever you typed in 2 different blogs. What the?!

You're right, my packing mentality has changed. Now I just never pack because we never go anywhere. It's much less stressful to never leave the house!
