Uneventful
Still going through Lost shakes as we finished Season 3 a couple of weeks ago. Season 4 doesn't "officially" come out on DVD until December, but hey--the good people at Apple have it available for the iPod. Let me tell you, it's pretty dang tempting to download the season and watch it on my iPod. Except that it wouldn't look very good. It's much better and easier on the eyes to watch it on our TV.
That being said, I have been completely naughty and watched bits and pieces of Season 4 that people have posted on YouTube. And I watched the Season 5 trailer, too. Of course, if I had any self-control, I would stop, but I keep peeking ahead and seeing little bits and pieces of things that make me more and more curious for Season 4. I still can't believe that we didn't fall into Lost when it started...everyone kept saying how incredible it is, but, somehow we doubted.
In the meantime, I am speedily making my way through Season 1 of Entourage. The episodes are only 30 minutes each, less actually, so with only eight episodes, I have watched almost the entire first season in two days. I know...I have a problem. Hello, my name is Rachel and I am addicted to TV. Entourage isn't too bad, kind of light and funny after the seriousness of Lost. And you all know how quickly I get hooked on HBO shows: it's not TV, it's HBO after all. It's kind of the truth. Deadwood, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, now Entourage.
Please know that on the majority of days, I watch a little bit of cartoons with the kids at breakfast, maybe a little bit of BBC while they're napping and then an hour or so at night, so it's not out of control. My bottom is not growing into the weave of the couch or anything. It only sounds like all we do is watch TV.
It was a very quiet weekend, so I don't have much to share. Everyone seemed on the verge of getting a horrible cold, but so far, nothing has become full-blown. We had the earliest soccer game on Saturday, 9:00 a.m. It was 32 degrees when we got over to Panzer. There were a couple of kids who didn't come to the game, so Josiah and the others had to play most of the game. And...he scored a goal! I was praying for just one goal this season and I got my goal, so now I am happy with the 2008 soccer season. We have a practice tomorrow in which the parents play the kids, and one game left on Saturday, then we are finished!
Yesterday, Josiah wanted to go to Sunday School and ROCK, the children's church, so I ran him over there and checked him in at 9:30. No, I am not teaching Sunday School at this point, though the lady who organizes everything asked me if I'm interested in taking Josiah's class. I feel for her, because it's got to be tough keeping a volunteer teacher for every Sunday and throughout the year...with people travelling and moving away. Josiah learned about Genesis 1:1 and walked around the rest of the day telling people about creation. It was too cute.
Speaking of moving, I can hardly believe it, but we have just a couple of weeks left with Jen and Deb and their families, what with the kids and me coming to Minnesota for most of November. We were all outside on Saturday afternoon because it was beautiful, sunny and warm. I keep thinking "This could be it for afternoons outside on the porch swing with the kids running around". Colder weather is coming and everyone is leaving. I'm trying to prepare Josiah for the shock of losing a nice bunch of friends. Hopefully we'll get some families in those two units who have younger kids. We have a great bunch here in the C stairwell, but the newest families all have older kids.
Germany does daylight savings earlier than the US, so we turned our clocks back on Saturday. What a difference an hour makes. The kids have been up before 6:00 a.m. and starving at 10:00 a.m. Well, I'm sure we'll adjust, but for the first few days, it's a pain.
I think that's about all for an update...sorry nothing too exciting. Just everyday life in an extraordinary place!

Then I got to hear Annika sing a song about numbers. She is so cute, too. I am so blessed with smart, loveable, adorable grandchildren!
We have a few songs like that.
I am hooked on the HBO show In Treatment. Only it has no release date yet.
