Chesapeake Arboretum
It was field trip day...I just can't tolerate the entire weekend going by without going out and doing something, somewhere. I'm perfectly content to spend the majority of weekend hours at home, but there comes a point when I just have to GO! Today was a beautiful day, very low key, full of sunshine and just enough warmth. I was looking for a little site close to home, so we drove about 10 minutes and visited the Chesapeake Arboretum (bonus: it is FREE!). We seemed to be the only people there, so after meandering along the trails for awhile, I unloaded William from the backpack and let him scoot around with his big brother and sister.
Other than that, our weekend was pretty quiet. We had supper out on Friday evening and then a trip to Target. How I love the Target in our neighborhood--it's new and on the edge of town and thus is usually very quiet. Picked out some Christmas presents for my nephews--nothing like starting in on the shopping seven months ahead of time! Saturday we were at home all day, though we did get out and take a nice long bike ride. Or rather, Josiah and Annika rode their bikes and I half-jogged struggling to keep up with Will in the buggy. Annika taught herself how to ride this week--no training wheels for this little miss!
This weekend we have a mini-vacation to look forward to: two nights on the beach at the Cape Henry Inn. We are staying in a little cottage with my friend Angela and her two boys. My friend Jen and her family (these are all friends from Germany) are coming down from DC and renting a cottage, too. I'm hoping that the warm temps hold and that the kids can spend some time in the sand...if not, we have some contingency plans in place!
The entire next week is Spring Break for Josiah and Annika...so wish me luck with that! I won't deny that having three hours in the morning to myself is something that I appreciate. I'm going to have to start thinking about what we're going to do with ourselves for that week!

Good luck to you with spring break, I'm sure you will do just fine.
Wow! Annika and Josiah are extremely athletic to ride their two wheel bikes so early on. Congratulations, Annika!
I know you will have fun at the cottage. You could all speak German! I'll be thinking of you.
Rachel, thanks for posting again!!
