Read This, Be Happy

I could spend this entire post complaining about the Navy and the crap we've been put through...but then again, I have a lot of things to thank the Navy for, right? Like bringing Hans back to Minnesota at just the right moment for me to find him. For keeping a roof over our head, bread on the table. Medical and sometimes dental, a pension for life when Hans retires. The gift of trying out life in Rhode Island, California, Japan, Rhode Island, Germany, (next duty station). Making friends all along the way who continue to be a part of our lives.

So, I'm going to look the latest debacle in the face and just relax because the benefits still far outweigh the negatives.

I'm still extremely proud of Hans, of our military and of our country.

If you want to read a really amazing story and feel some amazing gratitude, I highly recommend this website: www.kellehampton.com. Just make sure you get a couple of Kleenex when you read Nella's birth story. Or, if you're a mother, a towel might be more appropriate.

Go Navy!

Good post Rachel, a positive outlook will help. You are definitely right about you and Hans finding each other. You two have created a beautiful family. I'll look forward to seeing you all again wherever in the US you are assigned. Is there still a possibility you will be in Virginia.

Having a positive attitude is the way to go. I'm extremely proud of both Hans and you. And I love your kids, my darling grand kids, with all my heart.

Who was it that said "time heals all wounds"? It also gives us perspective I think. I also say to people that " Hans joined the Navy but we got to see the world". In the years to come you will look back on your travels nostalgically. Instead of growing up on a small farm in Minnesota your kiddos will have been all over the world. What a gift. Also remember that the greatest military in the world doesn't always do the correct thing either. Love ya'll.

Evidently you didn't throw out that book about positive thinking. It's not easy to be positive that's for sure. But, yes, the Navy has been for the most part an exciting and "positive" experience for you...and us! And, yes, sure anxious to find out where the next assignment will be. Thanks for making us all feel better, Rach!

Rachel, tonight I took time to read about Nella on the kellehampton website. What an amazing story. When I get a chance, I'll read her more recent entries. It does put things in perspective. Thank you for sharing this.
