Here We Go Again!

I just bought another stroller...!

Yeah, I know...I'm counting:

  1. Eddie Bauer travel system
  2. Cheap Safety 1st umbrella stroller--yuck
  3. Maclaren Triumph
  4. Graco DuoRider double (in Japan)
  5. Kelty double jogger
  6. Joovy caboose
  7. BabyOne three-wheel jogger (in Germany, for cobblestones)
  8. Quinny Zapp (to use with Maxi Cosi infant seat)
  9. Maclaren Quest

Seriously, this has to be my last stroller. The reason I sold my Zapp today is because I kept trying to sell the Maxi Cosi infant seat and couldn't find anyone to take it, until I listed it as part of a travel system with my Quinny. I think most people around here don't know Quinny strollers and/or don't want to throw down the cash to get one. My Zapp was 180 Euro, so not cheap, but it was a great stroller, good-looking and functional and tiny. I really didn't want to have to sell it, but there you go...it was all or nothing at all. I sold the Maxi Cosi and the Zapp this morning to a nice young couple who are expecting their first baby in July. Yay! And I got enough of a return on it to buy myself a new Maclaren. I upgraded from the Triumph to the Quest this time...it offers just a few more features and a little more padding and I reasoned that I had the money for it anyway, why not?

What do you think? Will this truly be my last stroller? We were thinking we'd have to buy a new three-wheeler for Europe because last year when we put our German buggy in storage, the tires were flat, but we filled them up this weekend and it's rolling great. The Germans really know how to make buggies...we paid about $120 for this stroller and I'd match it up easily with stuff in the US that costs twice as much.

Believe it or not, my husband was ready to shell out for another buggy if the tires were shot...!

Now I'm going to have to part with my old Maclaren, which is still in the basement. It's going to be hard, sigh. I bought it for Josiah and we got SO much use out of that thing, went so many places. Annika used it a lot too and though it's still functional, it doesn't look so great. I may try to give it away on our yardsale website. Someone could maybe use it as a spare in their trunk.

I'm trying not to think about the three that are still in storage in the US that I'm going to have to unload at some point...sigh.

But yay! I have a new stroller coming! Well...I'M excited anyway. :)

Good grief, Rachel you are almost up to my count of motorcycles! There is an similar thread running through your descriptions of strollers different capabilities that sounds like my bikes. A different tool for each type of terrain, although the kiddos should grow out of the stroller stage. Come to think of it sooner or later I will age out of the bike thing too.

I know Dad! And it's true that each one had a purpose. I didn't buy a single one just for the heck of it. It just happened that I had the single with Josiah. Then I needed a double because Annika came along, then I wanted a different double because the Graco was such a train. The Joovy was meant because Josiah was getting too big to ride but would stand. The German buggy because the roads are so rough. The Quinny because Will came along and we didn't have our original stroller or carseat packed. And now, the second Maclaren because we need something small and light.

I'm frivolously practical, I guess!

At this point we are on stroller #4, though the first one you and the Gilberts got us is still the one we use most (at least for a few more weeks).
