Strasbourg, France

Are you ready for a couple hundred pictures? Actually, it's not that bad, but the only reason there aren't more is that our camera battery went dead just as we were leaving the cathedral. I'm not complaining. This is only the third time I've recharged the battery since we purchased the camera almost six months ago...this battery has some serious staying power.
But I digress (as usual). We decided to make a foray into France today, specifically Strasbourg, which is just over an hour away, barely over the border in Alsace. We had been hearing some good things about the city, which also happens to be the home of the European Union Parliament--there's your trivia for the day!
(I highly recommend clicking on each to enlarge the photos)

Here I am with Josiah & Annika, sitting in the front row. Despite my look of prayerful pleading, they were very well behaved (and quiet!) in the cathedral.

The altar

I love this one...taken by Hans

The exterior. It was difficult to get a good shot because the town is built snugly around the cathedral...so there's no room to back up and get a good shot.

La Maison Kammerzell (The Kammerzell House)--built in the 16th century, located on the church square

The stained glass windows in the cathedral date from the 13th and 14th centuries.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the pictures. We're a bit tuckered out and are devouring and quickly becoming addicted to Lost. I think we're almost halfway through the first season already. The point of this being that Hans is (somewhat) patiently waiting for me to sit down so he can push play.

More good pictures. I don't think that I could tour all over Europe in, say a month and begin to take everything in. There is so much to see jam packed into that small continent I don't know how anyone could absorb it in a lifetime and a long one at that, but keep the pictures coming anyhow.

I'm so glad you got to take this little "spur of the moment" trip. The sights are gorgeous. And it's always a treat to see photos of all of you. I hope at some point you took some time to celebrate your birthday. If not today, then tomorrow - your special day. I will be thinking of you and hope to call to sing "Happy Birthday" to you, dear Rachel.

Gorgeous pictures, it looks amazing. And I'm kind of jealous that you're going through 'Lost' for the first time. Trust me, it's addictive.

Dude, when you add a bunch of pictures like that could you please include a caption so we know what we're looking at? "Random French House" is fine...at least I know I'm not supposed to be recognizing a landmark or something.
