Yet Another Playground Post

The gigantic slide

I'm sure that it gets pretty dull, these endless posts of me describing yet another visit to the playground. I wish I had something more exciting to tell you, but the trip to the playground was the highlight of our day. A day that started out sunny and promising. Josiah cleaned up both Annika's and his own room. Both of them...to me, that means the day is going to be grrrrrreaaat!

It gets better. We set off to find this mythical park in the spring sunshine, we found it and there were a few kids there, but they went back to kindergarten, so we had the whole park to ourselves. What, I don't like to share? Well, I don't, really, but that's not the topic at hand. No, it meant that I could let Josiah and Annika run to their heart's content and not be constantly monitoring them for infractions of justice (say, not taking turns with other children, climbing up the slide instead of going down, etc.). That = bliss. We played and played in the sunshine, had a nice snack, went down the huge slide. Seriously, it was incredibly fun, even for a 30+ year old. The zip line was awesome.

After we played ourselves out, we walked the short distance back to the base, had a little lunch, and then Josiah and Annika promptly fell asleep and stayed that way for almost three hours...long enough for me to get completely engrossed in my new book The Secret River by Kate Grenville. It's about the founding of the convict colony in New South Wales, Australia, a subject I remember being obsessed with in 1987. It's fiction, and so far, it's pretty good. I'll let you know how it turns out.

A great day, all in all. Enjoy the pictures. Sorry for the repetitiveness of the subject matter...

You and Sarah could post new pictures of the angels EVERY DAY and I would never tire of it. I'm so anxious to come to see you - and the playgrounds. It's under two weeks away!!!

Rach, you must get tired of all us saying that we love the pix and stories. No? Well, believe me, we don't get tired of the pix and stories. You always paint such a good picture with your descriptions. I also LOVE it when you have a good outing too! And who is that tall, good looking young man? And Annie...yikes! Start showing them pix of the grandmas and grandpa that are coming to visit them. We're looking forward to outings too!

Do the compliments on your blogs ever sound repetitive? I hope not because they are such fun to read and look at. Such relief from the media endlessly beating us over the head with doom and gloom over the economy etc. The wait for the 22nd is going to make this a long month. See you all soon, unless Hans is at another undiclosed location.
