Enough With the Mop

Annika had her first (professional) haircut this week. I finally reached my limit of patience with the mop. This is such a new experience for me, being frustrated with her curly, frizzy hair and her weird cowlick. It was becoming more and more of a challenge to get it to look even semi-decent, so I finally made an appointment for her.

The "before" shot

I came to the salon fully stocked and prepared for combat, but she was surprisingly calm and content in the chair. Josiah was even helpful...he stood in front of her and talked to her to keep her from turning her head too much. The stylist was a very nice German lady who had obviously had a great deal of experience cutting the hair of small children. The M&Ms helped, too (thanks, Kathy!). Is there anything M&Ms can't do? I'm stocking up for Potty Training Volume II.

Releasing the mop--stand back!

Mid-cut

Finished!

And the curls remain, though so many people warned us that cutting them=the end of curls. She doesn't look too curly in that last picture, but that's because the stylist had been wetting her head and combing it straight to cut it. I can assure you that the curl lives and reigns.

That's truly just about all the news that we have right now. It has been a quiet week here in Germany. Just the usual: groceries, errands, preschool, gym, library. I had to return "Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom", much to Josiah's absolute sorrow and devestation, but I found a copy of "Chicka-Chicka 123". I was so excited to find it, but Josiah's eyeballs almost popped out of his head. Really, the glee was hard to contain. Did I mention that he can recite the entire CCBB book? By heart? I have to somehow film it and post it, because it's hilarious. He spouts the entire book off in one long, breathless sentence in about twelve seconds.

Now he's wanting to build the rocket from the Charlie & Lola story "Whoops, but it Wasn't ME!". Charlie builds a rocket out of yogurt cups, tinfoil and various other recycleables.

This should be interesting. He'll probably be like Badger in "Better Off Dead" and end up building a fully-functioning rocket in his bedroom at age 11! And his nerdy father will be right there building it with him: "No Josiah, the hyperdrive line plugs into the main hyperdrive module, have I taught you nothing?!"

I've gotta go eat some yogurt. Bye!
