Paper vs. Plastic vs. Organic vs. Non-Organic

Half the time, I start these darn posts trying to think up something clever as a title. I'm not getting anything good this time, so I'm just going to do the post and hope that something comes to me.

Hans and I are having a huge, ongoing argument over the pros and cons of recycling and eating organic food. He has his viewpoint and I have mine and let's just say that they aren't exactly concurrent. Please to note that this argument started over my choice of paper bags over plastic at the commissary and escalated into high drama over my repeated purchase of Annie's brand organic mac-n-cheese. Which I think just tastes better than Kraft.

Wow, I'm going to pay for that comment.

I am not going vegan, not even vegetarian. I don't buy organic milk, organic eggs or organic brownie mix. I buy Annie's and last week (gasp!!) I bought some organic bread. Oh the horrors. In a fit of drama, I ended up throwing the entire loaf of organic bread into the trash in front of Hans and going out to buy him some "regular" bread.

And the battle royale over recycling continues. I'm sorry, but I was just brought up recycling and have been recycling for years...I just do it. No big deal. If I'm out and about and have a can or bottle to toss, I throw it out. I'm not going to guilt-trip people who choose not to recycle. I just do it. Hans is absolutely right when he says that it costs us money to recycle. I know that and if everyone stopped to think about it, they'd realize it too. I have a lot to learn about the pros and cons of recycling. I'm not all earth-huggy. I just recycle because it's what I do. I'm not on a one-woman crusade to save the planet!

I cannot believe that we have had more than one argument about these two subjects today. And loud enough so that the neighbors are probably thinking "Gee, they seemed so...normal and nice". They probably think we're fighting about something everyday, like finances or the presidential election or whether to spank.

I'm mortified that we are arguing about paper vs. plastic and organic bread.

Please, married couples, tell me that you fight about totally ridiculous things.

Annie's Macaroni and Cheese is alright, but it doesn't beat Kraft on any day. Must be all those pesticides and chopped up plastic bags and old wood forest products they put into each and every delicious blue box.

We do not fight about organic and plastic. Hans would freek in our house. Lots of organic! We fight about dishes.. no one seems to see them.. they become hidden on the counter I guess. Chad must have some magic vision that I need about the PILE on the counter. We have a dishwasher!
Kraft has organic Mac and Cheese now.

There should be give and take in every marriage. Compromise.

We had our big titanic presidential election arguments early on in the relationship. Now we just let that slide. The recent arguments are about whose turn it is to get up that night with the Relia and similar.
None of our food is organic, it's all made out of polyester.

Dad had a good thought last night. He says you pay whether you recycle or not. Maybe we do it just cause it makes us feel like we're helping a little bit to make a better future for Joe, Annie, Leah, Sam, Gus, and Baby Kuehl.

iAnnie's Mac and Cheese is the best at our house that is. The wood forest products they do add to the elbow macaroni is extra fiber we need. The Schulberg House just started recycling (our New Year's Resolution), and we buy more Organic Food, just taste better. Try buying Organic Carrots verses Regular Carrots and tell me the difference. Damn Good!!! Paper and Plastic does burn nice, just don't breathe the air. Miss you!!Jennifer

Remember those days when Hans was gone all the time and you didn't have these arguments? I haven't had any petty arguments in 4+ months. Three to go. I am looking forward to them now. :)
