My Skinny Son & Grey's

So, I tried a bunch of last year's shorts on Josiah this morning, to see what still fit. I wasn't surprised that his 18-24 month shorts fit. I wasn't even that surprised that a few of the 12-18 month pairs fit. What surprised me is that the smallest pair still fit him: 6-12 month.

This means that my skinny son is wearing clothes that are smaller than Annika's. Eeek!

On another note, I know I hardly ever discuss what we watch on TV. Which is weird, because you all know that we watch a lot of TV in Hans De For's house. He insists upon it. Instead of encouraging us to eat fruits and vegetables and Omega-3 rich foods, he wants us to draw our daily RDA of goodness through TV watching. This is why we are all so weak and pale.

I am sad to verify that "Gilmore Girls" is ending on May 15th. I kind of hoped Mom was kidding. We will all miss it very much, the wit and sharp retorts and Lorelai and Rory's ups and downs. Even Hans got drawn into this show, which is decidedly girly (and Rory had a poster of Noam Chomsky in her dorm room and drives a Prius, so I'm doubly surprised Hans puts up with it). Anyway, we have been watching it since the beginning and will miss it. I just read that the original creators were not writing for the show anymore, which may explain why the show has been lacking in its original spunk. I'm glad that they are getting out before they completely tank.

Also, what the hell? Grey's Anatomy totally sucked last night. I am getting pretty tired of this show. I absolutely loved the first season. As so often happens in my TV watching life, I caught the season finale for season one while in Yokosuka and got hooked. I'm serious. This is how I've become interested in so many shows. Anyway, I made a special trip into Yokosuka to see if I could find the first season DVDs, thank God they were there. I watched the entire first season in about one week and became a diehard fan. But I'm getting sick of it. Sick of Meredith and Derek's problems never getting straightened out. Sick of stupid George and Izzy (besides which, since everyone knows this actor is gay, it's hard to watch him in a heterosexual love triangle). I love Sandra Oh and Kate Walsh, but that's about it. So....tired of the bullcrap.

And anyway, the stupid spinoff episode last night...yuck. Like I said I like Kate Walsh, but puhlease, this office in California. I mean, I lived in California, I know folks do things a little differently out there, but this is ridiculous. This practice that they have? Whatever. Every single person there all messed up and sex-crazy...not to mention gorgeous, always perfectly dressed and having plenty of time to make lattes and discuss their personal problems. I don't like the feel of it. And what the hell was up with that surfer/receptionist? WHO has a receptionist who goes surfing on lunch break...comes out in just trunks and proceeds to wax his surfboard in front of the gaping women of the office? WhatEVER.

Gen, any thoughts on the show last night?

I wish that I could come up with some witty reparte for you but your Mum is the clever one around here. I used to watch The Gilmores for the first couple of years but lost interest. That must be the way it goes, out of the gate real fast and then a long slow fall from grace, although some fall faster than others. Even '24' is starting to wear a little thin. Also, Joe being thin is better than the alternative, so I wouldn't worry. I am still debating which car to bring out there, the Focus would be nice while we are there but you have to get there too. I probably won't know until the night before. take care and we will see you in a couple weeks.

Dad, if it helps the decision making process, parking is scarce and the streets are narrow.

This is exactly why I gave up watching Grey's. (OK...and it coincides with bathtime). I got so sick and tired of them all sleeping together. It was like they should have renamed the show "Slorefest". Or "I've Seen Everyone on This Show's Anatomy". And, like you said, could Meredith BE any whinier? Wonh.
