Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, friends and women who have stood in the place of a mother! I hope that you all had a relaxing day. I hope that all of you had a meal cooked for you or got to sleep in. I hope that some of you got presents from your children or husbands.

Hans started asking me what I wanted, gift-wise, about a week ago. Surprisingly, I was able to come up with a few things and suggested them. Then, I remembered that I have been asking for a DVD recorder for awhile and suggested that. And that, friends, is what I got. We drove over to Best Buy on Friday and picked one up. I am embarrassed to admit (but just in front of Sarah) that I am completely clueless as to how to get our home movies off of our camera. I have seriously been trying to transfer data since we got the camera almost three years ago. I figured that it would probably be easiest to just get a DVD recorder, play the movies directly off the camera, and record them. And voila! Finally, I get to watch my movies on the big screen.

The moral of this extremely loooooong recounting of my Mother's Day present is this: I sat back and watched Josiah grow from about three months (I haven't done Annika's movies yet) and I was stunned by how much he has changed and grown. I saw him as a helpless baby not able to roll over. I saw him roll over and learn to crawl. Walk and talk and dance. And I was utterly amazed....not only at him and how far he has come along his path, but at how amazingly accomplished it makes me feel to witness it.

As for the rest of my Mother's Day...we took a blanket, got some sandwiches and took the kids to a park in Bristol. Had a lovely picnic on a nice, sunny day. Hans and I even got to sit on the blanket and relax while Josiah and Annika played together without fighting for approximately eight minutes. It was totally sweet. I can't wait for next year's Mother's Day!
