Wow It's Gorgeous...!

Does anyone else just love the way spring sort of...explodes? I'm thinking back to how our neighborhood looked a couple of weeks ago. A few daffodils and tulips nosing up here and there, buds on the trees, but the majority of the landscape was dull and brown.

All of a sudden there are leaves on the trees. Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, wisteria everywhere. I need to take a digital picture of our front garden. We have a Japanese maple that is the most gorgeous shade of crimson, and there are two other trees (I have no idea what they are) that are flowering and pink. One is extremely fluffy and pink and the other has sparse flowers, but they are so individually lovely nonetheless. I sat out on the porch swing and read during the kids' naps this afternoon. Gorgeous.

Anyway. Not too much else going on. Yesterday I packed up the kids and took them to IKEA. It's up near Boston, about an hour's drive from Newport. Despite the fact that Josiah was 1/8th of an inch too small to play at the IKEA indoor playground, he seemed to have a good time. Annika too. The fact that IKEA seems to sell primarily brightly colored, funky-shaped plastic stuff probably helped them enjoy it. We went for the sole purpose of buying Annika a toy box. We found one, brought it home and Hans put it together. Now she has a place to corral her toy collection, which is getting bigger as Josiah outgrows some of his belongings.

That's about it. Just another normal week. Josiah had school on Tuesday and Thursday and both days went fine, so far as I know. He has been excited to go to school, no more hysterics upon entering the new classroom. I'm still trying to get used to the half-day schedule, which cramps my style a little. It would be nice if he could go full days. It seems like I barely drop him off, run home, do some laundry, clean, run out and do errands...and it's time to go pick him up. Oh well, he's having a good time and that's all that matters! He'll be off to college soon enough!

I'm with you and your feelings about spring. Your description sounds lovely. Please try to post a photo of the wisteria - and the little angels, of course. :-)
