The One in Which Donna Eats a Taco

Donna hasn't had a taco since 1987. Until today. That's right, being around us has made her desire to try wild and crazy things...like tacos! She liked the first one so much, she had another one. I think we have a new Taco Bell fan in Stuttgart, however, those of you at home try to get her to Taco John's as Hans and I much prefer them to Taco Bell.

OK, enough about tacos.

Those of you who read Donna's blog already know that she made it to Stuttgart just fine and that we enjoyed our weekend in Garmisch at Edelweiss. The weather was supposed to be rainy, gray and cold all weekend, but by some divine miracle (I think the sun just follows Donna around), it was bright, beautiful, sunny and warm. Absolute Alpine perfection. And we listened to "The Sound of Music" soundtrack the entire time, which is something I've always wanted to do while driving into the Alps, but never have asked of my husband. I'm just that thoughtful.

I have yet to actually get out of the car and twirl a la Maria, but I will. Oh yes, I will.

Not much else in news from here. We dropped the kids at the CDC today (that's the daycare, not the Center for Disease Control) at 11:30. I had grand intentions of taking Donna to this big, dusty, dirty barn full of antiques that's about a 15 minute drive from here. However, we hit the stau to end all staus...and we sat in traffic for well over an hour before I declared that we'd have to exit and turn around. We never found out what was going on to cause such an awful backup, but it was the worst stau I've been in since we came to Germany. So, instead of browsing through piles and stacks of quaint German antiques, we ended up coming back to the base and having Taco Bell.

Not really what I was picturing, but oh well...we'll try again another day. And at least I re-introduced Donna into the world of taco-eating. You're welcome, Taco Bell.

The antique store will have to happen another time...there must be something there waiting for you!

Yum, tacos. I, however, prefer Taco Bell. Good memories of heading right to Taco Bell when we got to Rapid City. We were excited when Taco Bell moved to Mankato (and now New Ulm), but it's just not the same.

Good for you, Donna. Next time you come down, we'll have tacos!

If you recall we had, for a time right here in St. James, a Taco Bell. I think that they thought that it would attract our Hispanic population, but alas they prefer real Mexican food. I'm glad that you girls are having a good time, except for the traffic jams.

I hope we can try to get to the antique barn another day. Doesn't it sound fun? I'm curious to see what the Germans consider "antique."

I have to say I enjoyed the tacos.

I hope my Mom is still ok after the taco! I doubt I will get her to try Thai food out here! I am glad you are having fun!
I have heard commericals about Taco John. I will have to try it out! I will let you know. The Germans have real antiques, I know. Most of my pieces are from 1890, they have lots of history and made it through war, some are from Germany, France and Belgium. Finding items from 400+ years is seen too. I have been antiquing in Kansas and Missouri and nothing touches Europe yet.
Have you made your macaroni bake yet? My hot dish (tried it twice) has not even tasted like yours. I will need the exact recipe.
