Virus

We are still hanging in there...we're about 85%, I think and getting better with each night of good sleep. I can't put us at 100% yet because we're all still coughing, tired and experiencing the odd battle with snot. What is it about snot? Because seriously, I have been dry and clear for the last two days, except for an hour before bedtime, when I start stuffing up and running! I hate that.

These are the times (the very few times) that I thank God I'm a mouth-breather. It does come in handy from time to time!

We have gotten out of the house exactly three times this week. I picked up mail on Wednesday because I have this mail compulsion...I have to know what's in the mail...and no virus is going to keep me from my box. Well, and I'm always expecting packages too, so I was dying to know if anything from my friends at Gap had appeared to brighten my gray day.

Friday, Josiah and Annika were supposed to have school, except that (oops) I forgot that it was "teacher in-service" day, so school was out and thus Josiah didn't have preschool because the kindergartners needed full-day daycare. Yeah, I was more than a little pissed about that....myself forgetting or the dang school taking ANOTHER day off. Then, hoping that Annika would go, I took her in only to be met with a great deal of crying...that's right, Miss Independent decided she didn't want to go...and I was too tired and cranky to force her, so we just turned around and marched back out. Maybe it was for the best. Maybe they weren't feeling perfect just yet.

We got some much-needed groceries instead, which went fine except that the commissary was out of milk AGAIN, forcing me to buy $4.30/half gallon organic milk. It's good milk. I have nothing against it, I just prefer to spend $1.85/half gallon and I can't figure out why they can't keep milk stocked, it's such a basic thing. This happens all the time and makes me feel like I'm living in communist Russia or something. People get so frustrated about it...I just know I'm going to witness a slapdown in front of the milk case one of these days.

Yesterday I was hoping to get out and go to the PX, but I just couldn't get it together, so I reasoned we could have one more lazy day. We went today instead, and this time, instead of only 50% of our purchases being truly necessary, more like 95% were. I bought some new ponytailers for myself and an Oprah magazine...oh, and a regular Coke. But that's about it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are getting there, but boy, was that ever a long week! I'm looking forward to the coming week: school, ballet, bazaar and two doctor's appointments.

Amen!

Well, I can see Coke as a necessity but Oprah?!? Oh well, I'm sure she appreciates that you drug your sick self out to get her magazine. Now if you had been out of Pledge, I would have understood sacrifice for that!

Love you! Glad you're all on the mend!

I was kind of visualizing the wrestling match at the milk cooler, a person should not get in the way of a woman on a mission. It is also good to hear that you guys are feeling much better. What is it about maladies that crop up just before bedtime anyhow? Does the milk come in from the States?
