The Usual Mish-Mash

Sorry, it's another volume of the mish-mash that is on my mind.

We went to Legoland again today. I have to say that it is very pleasant to have the park pass for the year. I don't feel like we have to hurry and squeeze every ride and exhibit into one super-long day. We can go back again and again and take our time. Today, we visited the miniatures again, played in the amazing parks, had a great lunch and Josiah rode the rollercoaster. Legoland was a little busier today than last time we went, but still very manageable...Hans only got his toes stepped on once.

What else? I am so behind the times. I have just discovered Burt's Bees. I know, I know. It's been around forever. Due to the aforementioned oil problem, I was breaking out like a 13-year-old, so I bought some Burt's Bees Tea Tree Blemish Stick. It comes in a little roll-on bottle, it smells great, and most of all, it seems to work. It burns like hell, so I know it's doing its job. Anyway, if you're feeling blemish-prone, try it out. I have been hearing great things about tea tree oil for years, but never tried it. Now I'm thinking of trying their tomato soap for oily and blemish-prone skin. Tomatoes? Who'd a thunk it?

The next person who comments "Boy, you must have your hands full!" or "I bet they keep you busy!" or anything to that effect is going to get kicked. Hard. I am so sick of people saying these things to me. Why don't you just come right out and say that they're like a couple of wild animals? Or just say brats, because I know that's what you're thinking. This comment inevitably comes from someone who looks like they don't have any children at home. Grrrr. I'm just a little tired of that comment. Really, I've been thinking about it and I'd rather have kids that are a little spirited than kids that are afraid of their own shadows!

Sorry. Feels good to just vent that right out. I'm sure it's just a case of people being nice. I suppose they think it's like asking "What do you think of this weather?". Only it's not.

I have been looking at houses in the Twin Cities area lately...why? I have no idea. We're not coming home anytime soon (and if airfare doesn't come down, it may be 18+ months), but for some reason, I've just been curious about what's available. I always thought I wanted to live somewhere in the Grand Avenue/Summit Avenue/Selby Avenue area, and we still may wind up there, but lately we've been tossing around the idea of living somewhere less populated. This may be because we're living in an apartment surrounded on all sides, up and down, by people. I think we may be having a reaction to such close quarters. But lately we've been talking about things like...wouldn't it be fun to have a horse? HA. I will get my horse in the end!!

We are also getting a severe case of new-car disease around here, too. It's coming up on two years since we bought a car, which would be Hans' and almost four years since we bought mine. Space is starting to be an issue, as Josiah and Annika get bigger and can now reach across the middle of the seat and slap at one another, or pinch, or steal toys or treats. Is there anything more distracting than two children having a catfight in the backseat? Anyway. The minivan (gulp) is looking better and better to me all the time. Hans is bound and determined to get the Audi SUV. We're going to go and take a look because there are military car sales places here that will get us a great deal.

I know that there was something else bouncing around in my brain, but that's about all I can come up with right now. We didn't take the camera to Legoland since we'd just been there and shot so many pictures, so no pics, sorry!

Okay, if Joe is gonna play soccer, start steeling yourself for comments because you know there will be some know-it-all parent(s) who will make remarks about OTHER people's kids. It is the nature of people. Been that way for years. Will continue being that way. People mean "well" but sometimes the remarks are just not interpreted that way. Glad you had fun at Legoland. Fun to be in the throes of new car passion!

Okay, I know I am guilty of saying that a time or two, but just because I couldn't imagine life with multiple children, and it seemed difficult. And it is SUPPOSED to be difficult, if it's easy, then someone else is raising your kids.

It was just small talk, and from me meant, "I am impressed by what you are doing and I'm not sure I could do it." (this from a woman who manages 30+ children on a regular basis)

"Mish-mash, I was takin' a bath..."

Coming from a single thirty-something guy *insert pathetic sigh here*, I have to say...

"Boy, Rachel, they must really keep you busy!"

*snickers*

Housing! In the metro area! You don't want to live in the actual Twin Cities right now, believe me, given prices and taxes; try the outer 'burbs like Hugo (despite the twisters), etc. Two of my married-couple-friends (did that make ANY sense?) bought homes in the 'burbs, and they really love it.

Anywhere south of the metro area would make me happy or even west a ways...Waconia?

People who make that type of comment are actually making a left handed compliment. A home in the suburbs would be nice, especilly ,Hans should like this, close to the trolley tracks. I thought that New Prague or the west burbs would be handy. As for new vehicles, tell me that you won't look at a Chrysler?
