Cornholio

Do you remember Cornholio?

Cornholio may become Annika's new nickname. Last night at supper, I turned just in time to catch her stuffing a kernel of sweet corn up her nose. I pinched her nose at the bridge and squeezed out not one, not two, but three kernels of corn! Out they came, pop pop pop...

I'm not sure how she accomplished such a feat without one of us noticing, but she did.

In other news: spent part of the day today with my girl here: http://fildorado.de/. Our neighbor Jen invited us. We had quite a little party of adults and kids, actually. Josiah is not crazy about pools, but Annika loves the water, so it was decided that Hans and Josiah would have a "boy's day" and Annika and I would have "girl's day". Annika, predictably, loved it. She loved the bathtub-warm, shallow kiddie pools. She loved the cold wave pool. She loved the really amazing uber-warm outdoor pool (it was around 35 degrees here today). She even went down an enormous, pitch-black water slide riding on my belly. When we got to the bottom, she looked up at me with this crazy grin and said "Agin, agin!!"

I just know she's going to get a tattoo when she's 15. Hopefully, she'll have stopped sticking corn up her nose by then!

Yep, a tattoo and a piercing of some sort.
Or maybe not. Maybe she'll just have an adventurous spirit so she'll want to do rock-climbing, whitewater-rafting, bungee-jumping and other hypenated extreme sports.

I'm glad you discovered the corn before she went to bed!

It sounds like your swimming outing was really fun.

I think she gets this love of water from her Aunt. I waited till 20 to get my tattoo if it makes you feel better.

I believe that I remember a song about putting beans in your ears, but never one about corn in your nose. I don't think that you can start too early on getting comfortable in the water. So far we have two grand-daughters that seem to full of the dickens. Don't lose that spark. From Dad,how come the format has changed again?

Oh wait, I figured it out after I wrote the note. I'm OK.

Gen...I'm starting to worry about you! That's hyphenated, honey. Hopefully after next week some of your spelling skills will return. Oh Annie, may you keep that spirit. And please wait with the tattoo until I can go with you for my next one. :) from mom
