Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom!

Josiah's latest favorite thing is the book Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. We have it on loan from the library and have read it to him a few times. Between us reading it to him and him sounding out words, he's able to read the entire book himself. Which is nice, because although Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom is an adorable book, it does get a bit dull for the over-4 crowd.

For those of you not familiar with the story, it's about a little alphabet who climbs up the coconut tree, thus overtaxing said coconut tree and causing the bending and eventual tipping of the alphabet characters onto the ground.

One day, he was in his room and was suspiciously quiet for a long period of time. When I went to check up on him, there he was, arranging some alphabet puzzle pieces into an exact replica of the alphabet pile-up in CCBB. I guess it's better than coming in and finding him putting the final strokes on his recreation of "The Last Supper" in marker on his bedroom wall. No wait, anything DaVinci would be acceptable. Jackson Pollock recreations would not Seriously, he will open a page of the book and sit there with his stock of letters, recreating scenes from the book.

Today, he coerced me into making a coconut tree for him out of brown and green construction paper. Now he has a model of the coconut tree to arrange his dioramas of alphabet around.

Annika just ripped the coconut tree. Call the police!!! Oh the humanity! What a heinous crime! I'll be right back.

OK...the coconut tree has been repaired and Annika is spending a time-out in her room.

Josiah just said "Sissy really likes to hit!" and I said "Where do you think she learned that (pray tell?)".

"Public", he said.

Well, that settles it. I'm never leaving the house again.

Enjoy the pictures of Josiah, CCBB and the coconut tree. He has made it up with Sissy and is reading CCBB to her right now.

so cute!

Chika-Chika-Boom-Boom dull?! I'm always wondering will there be enough room this time? I'm hopeful for the day when those silly letters find a bigger tree.

Now that chant is stuck in my head. AND I know what I'm dong with my Kindergarteners on Monday. Thanks!

I LIKE THE HAIRCUT!!! Little sisters are wonderful, aren't they? I figured it'd only be a matter of time before Annie started getting her revenge on her big brother. Ah, sibling rivalry...

What adorable photos of Josiah! Please tell him "congratulations on reading a whole book" from me.

I also like you new "do," Rachel. Very cute!

Please hug and kiss the angels for me. I miss all of you.

Joe had better start getting used to it now, because it doesn't get any better (from the man who survived two younger sisters).

At least Annika won't inflict New Kids On The Block on him...

Oh whatever, Andrew. Like NKOTB isn't still your favorite band!

You caught me. I have tickets for their reunion tour, coming the Target Center this year.

Too bad you guys are over there in Germany, since I happen to know for a fact that Hubby Hans has a serious interest in seeing them live. Trust me, you don't want to see him at one of their concerts.
