Weaning Myself

I'm trying to gradually wean myself off eBay...this is tougher than the switch from regular Coke to Coke Zero. I've just gotta keep taking deep, measured breaths. Gotta keep up the running regimen.

Why would I need to stop using eBay you say? Because most folks selling things on eBay don't ship APO/FPO, meaning, they don't ship to overseas military addresses. The problem is not that it costs anything extra to send stuff APO/FPO, I think it's that the sender has to take time to fill out a customs form. It is kind of a pain in the butt...and I still can't figure out why we ever had to fill out customs forms when it is AMERICAN mail going from one AMERICAN point to another. Grrrrr. Don't get me started. I'll start ranting about the 2006 quest to get a double stroller sent to Japan.

True, there are rare eBay sellers who will ship APO/FPO, but they're a little hard to weed out of the bunch. So, alas, I must start weaning myself of my drug of choice, eBay. If you think I'm exaggerating about how much I love eBay and how much time I spend shopping there...ask Hans. He'll tell you.

I know, what a problem, right? I mean, let's talk about the monks at Myanmar or the problems with the Turks and the PKK in Northern Iraq. Yeah, that's right, I listen to the BBC while I brush my teeth. Losing eBay is nothing compared to what Benazir Bhutto is facing right now.

Changing the subject slightly...does anyone else love Mossimo's clothes at Target? I live in T-shirts and jeans. I found out pretty quickly that having toddlers equals the ruination of expensive J Crew T-shirts at an alarming rate. So I went to Target last year (dragging my feet all the way) and bought a bunch of Mossimo short-sleeve T-shirts in every color. When one got stained, I just went and replaced it for $7.99. We went to Target last Friday and I stocked up on Mossimo's long sleeve T-shirts and a really super-soft crewneck sweater. I love these shirts. They stand up to a lot of washing, hold their shape (which is the newer, longer length) and have cute details like long-john style cuffs. And they're, like, $7.99. The sweater was $11.99 but it is awesome...I haven't washed it yet to see how it holds up. Anyway, I love this stuff. Sarah, did you try the Mossimo clothes yesterday?

The best part is that if they get ruined, I haven't spent $30, I've spent $7.99 and can move the T-shirt from my closet to my pajama drawer. Oh so sexy...all my grease and paint-spattered T-shirts. My husband is sooooo lucky!

Actually, I just bought a new nightie. And before you go there, I'll just tell you that the nightie is from LL Bean and it fulfills every "Little House on the Prairie" fantasy I've ever had. It is full length embroidered flannel and I am in love with it. Seriously, it is the nicest, softest most matronly nightie. I'm just a little disappointed that it didn't come with a nightcap and a CD of Pa's Greatest Fiddle Hits.

Your new nightie sounds just like the kind I would like.

You know, some times I wonder if I did you a favor by reading the Little House books to you and your siblings? Did you get a night cap too?

Yep. I tried on what they called a ballet neck (which was different than what I think of as ballet top) and they were not remotely flattering on me. I'll keep looking. I think most of it is just getting over the fact that I still have a slightly different shape than I used to.

I've never really gotten in to ebay, but I am addicted to Craig's list. I just keep refreshing the bab/kid site all day long. The best part is I can just pick stuff up. I don't have to wait for someone to ship it.

Bad news: They have one for Stuttgart!

Chad lives in ebay and Craigs list. If you need "feed the demon" send the stuff to us and we an send it to Germany. We have a close relationship with our postal worker.

Hmmm. Now I can't help but wonder...is it a good thing that you wear the same nightie as your mother in law??
I have a copy of Pa's greatest fiddle hits that I received with my prairie bonnet. I can burn a copy for you if you want...

Well, I can't believe that they don't have Pa's Greatest Hits on iTunes...the nerve.

Rachel, I couldn't agree more about the Target t-shirts. Plain, solid colors and cheap! Who could ask for anything more?

I'm wearing a Mossimo Target shirt as I'm reading this! I agree, they are comfy and wear well.
