Odds & Ends
Hi. Here I am, posting a new blog, though I have nothing really new or interesting to tell anyone. I just know that if I don't blog on a regular basis, certain people get very upset, and they are not the sort of people I want to enrage. IF you know what I mean.
The kids have been asleep for almost three hours, though I just heard Annika making some noise upstairs. I hardly know what to do with myself when they do this...truthfully, I just want to dance around the house in a single-person conga line singing "BonUS, BonUS, BonUS!!". I should be doing the things that I never get time to do on days when their naps (or quiet time for Josiah) don't last longer than an hour. Like painting my toenails. Starting on the picture montage that I want to do of our Japan experience. Calling my grandmothers. E-mailing an old friend. Completing a scrapbook page. Trying my hand at writing the great American novel, in tiny increments.
Again, there is nothing to report. It was pretty cold here for a couple of days. We kept busy, though, so it didn't seem too bad. We are doing the following things: library morning on Tuesdays, school for Josiah on Wednesdays, open gym at Y on Thursdays. I try to go to yoga (or as Josiah says "hoga") at least once a week, twice if I can manage it. I am loving yoga. Could there be a more perfect form of exercise for someone as tightly wound as me? Last week, we also had "family night" at church. Josiah and I went and played games for a couple of hours after supper. He is really, really good at Perfection. For those of you who don't remember it, Perfection is the one with all the little shapes--you try to get all the tiny shapes into the proper sockets before the timer stops and the spring goes off, propelling all the tiny shapes into every corner of the room. Josiah loved it. He screamed with delight every time the board popped up.
I played Scattergories with a few other couples. Damn, that was totally fun. I whispered to the other ladies from behind my answer pad that the game would be a lot more fun if we had had a couple of glasses of wine. To which they wondered why I was whispering as we are Lutherans, not Catholics. Geez. There was much hilarity at my suggestion of raiding the Mogen-David communion wine. But we didn't. There were small children present, after all. We also discussed the whole Missouri-Synod vs. Wisconsin-Synod thing, too. Newport Lutherans are fascinated with the fact that in Minnesota, it's a biiiiig deal. I think it's pretty funny too. But we don't have to tell Gramma, now do we?
A few pictures of the kids and the house and other stuff. Just thought some of you might be interested to see the outside of our house. Check out Josiah's new curtains. I made 'em mahself.

Thank you for adding "happiness" to my busy morning at work. I loved reading your new entries and absolutely love the new photos. My, those little angels are adorable!!!
Your new curtains for Josiah's room look very nice. I'm sure he likes them too.
Glad you are surviving the cold and getting out to do some things.
Thanks for the house pictures. Did you get the water problem taken care of? It is really going into the basement here as far as temps are concerned, the coldest in ten years, or so they say. More proof of global warming I guess. We will see you all in a couple of weeks, can't hardly wait.
