Halloween 2012

Finally, Halloween pics!  But first, a couple from last week's Fall Festival at Larchmont Elementary.  We purchased tickets to have BBQ and then played free games in the backyard.  I love how the PTO handles fundraising at LES--get-togethers rather than door-to-door sales.
(By the by, can you believe how beautiful our daughter is?  I mean, really!?)

The backyard at Larchmont Elementary--they have a school garden here.  I had no idea it existed until Fall Festival.

Annika, transformed into a tigress.  Rawrrrrr!

Josiah participated in the sack race.

Halloween, traditional doorstep picture before trick-or-treating.

Will as The Dragon, Josiah as Luigi, Annika as a Tigress

I can't decide which of these is cuter, so I'll just stick both in here!

Halloween was short and sweet, just the way Mr. De For and I like it.  Our friends Cory and Patty invited us to stop over and have pizza with them (and their three boys) before heading out for treats.  They live just a couple of blocks away from us.  I love having such amazing friends so close by.  I get to see Patty almost every day at school pickup and she has introduced me to a bunch of her neighborhood moms, so pickup is almost always a good time!  Trick or treating was four or five blocks, Patty and me, and five boys and our one crazy girl running ahead.  They did great this year--the older kids were fine to go ahead and let us catch up with them or check in with us from time to time and the youngest two (Will and Roan, both three), stayed close to each other and to us.  Those four or five blocks provided each of them with a bucket of candy, so we quit while the gettin' was good and retreated to Cory and Patty's to help them pass out candy.  We didn't turn our light on at home...Gen said I was a scrooge...maybe next year I'll leave the light on and leave a bowl and a sign out front?  I enjoy seeing the kids get excited about dressing up and going door-to-door, but that's about all I like about Halloween, so I'm glad that it's over for another year!  Maybe I am a Scrooge.
