I Think I'll Keep Her

http://steadymom.com/

This post from Steady Mom got me thinking about my birthday post to Annika...

It's true, what Steady Mom says: do I want my child to be weak willed?

It is a challenge struggling with Annika some days, but make no mistake...I want her to keep her determination. Maybe then she won't be like me: quitting things that are difficult, giving up because one little obstacle stands in my way, unwilling and afraid to take risks because the known is so much more comfortable, afraid of other people in general. People can say that I'm strong-willed too, but I think it's more of a front than actual strong will, more talk than walk.

I'll keep my strong-willed child if it means that she'll take smart chances, invest herself with passion, show determination and move mountains. I'll keep her if it means she doesn't let people fill her with fear, stand in her way and rule her life. I will be proud to raise a strong daughter.

OK then, that is all.
