The Barfington Post
Brought to you by Pukahontas and her brother, Sir Pukalot.
Yeah, it's been one of those kinds of days. Woke up at my Grandma T.'s house at 3:00 a.m. with Josiah throwing up on his makeshift bed. When he was finished (loudly) throwing up, he wanted to come and sleep in Grandma's small double bed with me and Annika. It felt like a scene out of "Planes, Trains & Automobiles"...there I was, with 6" of space to my name. I ended up letting them sleep at the head of the bed and I curled up across the end of the bed.
He woke up at least two more times during the night, oh joy of all joys.
Did I mention that I contracted a sweet cold yesterday too? One of those colds in which the nose seems completely plugged and incapable of passing any snot whatsoever, then all of a sudden, there's rogue snot trickling down your face? And you've wiped your nose so many times with your Grandma's cheap, rough tissues that you can hardly feel your nose and upper lip, so that the snot is...
OK, never mind. This is getting gross. Let's just say it's one of those colds where I want to jam rolled up Kleenex up my nose. I often wonder why our friends at Tampax haven't designed some sort of product to jam up there and absorb all that moisture.
OK, this is getting more gross. So I'll just get on with the puking part. Josiah was puking. Came back to St. James for the Kuehl chili feed. Annika took a long nap and then, in proper sisterly fashion, she woke up and puked. Gen arrived with Gus, who was puking last night too, and Sam, who commenced puking after Aaron's baptism this evening. In turn, Gen has fallen. Mom and Dad seem to be standing strong and I have taken some Tums and a Valium and am hoping to get a good night's sleep.
But I have the bucket standing by.
Don't worry, much of this trip home has been very pleasant. It hasn't all been about puke and snot.
More later....

Please greet your whole family for me. Give Josiah and Annika a hug and kiss from Grandma D.

Mom has fallen and judging from the way my gut feels this morning, I am next on the list.
Stay away and save yourselves!
If anyone is curious, I think I lost about 10 pounds in 20 or so hours. Not a bad diet.
