The Price is Right Computer

OK, so I went out and bought this new computer for Hans...he picked it out prior to my leaving Stuttgart, researched it, checked to make sure Best Buy had it in stock and wrote down the model and SKU numbers for me.

You guys should see this thing. Seriously. For starters, it's bright cherry red with flames on the cover. Next, it's enormous. It has a ten-key pad it's so big. When one opens the cover, red lights flash. I keep thinking of game shows every time I open it, like that spin the wheel game on The Price is Right.

It's definitely eye-catching. I think my husband will like it. I guess it's pretty fast and everything too and will be good to play games on...I wouldn't know about the technical stuff. All I know is that it's uncommonly good-looking.

And it has the most sensitive touch pad ever. If there are all sorts of typos in this post, I apologize...I have to keep my hands super-arched to type over the touchpad...it keeps skittering the cursor around. I miss our little optical mouse that we usually carry with the laptop.

Enough about the computer. Here I am in St. James, we arrived here yesterday late in the afternoon after a few pleasant days in Rochester. Life as part of the Tatertot Hotdish was very interesting. I was overjoyed to meet my nephew and godson, Gus, the newest tot in the hotdish (though he's about nine months old...). He is one cheerful and outspoken little guy--he makes a lot of very happy noise. Sam has grown enormous since I've seen him. Scuba still looks devilishly handsome as always (and he does the dishes and cooks), and Juno and Lewis are still sweet and farty, respectively. My God, how that dog farts!

After a quick stop for lunch in Austin (many thanks to Aunt Donna and Uncle David for hosting), we were on to St. James, where I was able to share supper with my oldest friend Jennifer. Uncle Eli and Aunt Lindsey stopped later in the evening...Leah, Josiah and Annika ran around like the proverbial chickens. Grandma Jan was lining them all up at the top of the stairs and having them "race" each other down the stairs backwards on their bellies. They did that about 346 times, laughing uproariously each and every time.

And I got to meet my other new nephew, little Aaron, who obligingly woke up and let me hold him for a few minutes. He doesn't have a whole lot to say yet, but he communicates just fine with smiles and sticking his little tongue out...adorable.

So, nothing too wild and crazy to report. Just a lot of driving, some shopping in between--the only thing left for me to find are some shoes (how I hate shoe shopping!), and visits with everyone. Josiah and Annika got haircuts "uptown" today...that's what we call the shopping area of St. James. That was about the extent of the excitement of our day!
