Back Home

We are back home.  Have been for a couple of days now.

Everyone heard our travel story TO Minnesota, right?  Well, I'm happy to report that our trip home was very uneventful.  No cancellations, no delays, no lost luggage, no random taxi rides to hotels, no surly airline employees.

I'm glad to be here.  It was 50 degrees today and yes, I've become a weenie.  I think I could relearn to tolerate Minnesota's winters, but wow--it's just nice not to have to worry about things like icy roads and scraping windshields and where everyone's hats/mittens/mukluks are.  That being said, I love Minnesota and I'm still convinced that, for me anyway, heaven will be Minnesota.  Just preferably in the summer.

We enjoyed our stay immensely and that is thanks in no small part to so many of our family members who came to us in The Cities.  Thanks Mom and Dad, for staying for so many nights, for coming to the science museum, for being an extra set of hands and eyes, for watching Will so Hans and I could see a movie, for dragging up the projector and slides.  Thank you so much for telling me that I "was worth it" when I worried about the cost of staying in the hotel.

I would thank Gen, but she doesn't read blogs anymore (according to her, it's very 2008), so whatever.  If she read my blog I would say thank you to her and to Scuba and to Sam and Gus for spending two nights with us, for bringing up games and Captain Morgan and Coke and for staying up to toast the New Year.  I love you guys.  So much so that I'll be sending you some Play-Doh very soon!

Thank you Eli and Lindsey, Leah and Aaron for coming up on New Year's Eve.  I am beyond glad that everything worked out in our favor and that our family was able to be complete for New Year's.  I love you guys too...want some Play-Doh?  I'll send you some too!

Thank you Phil and Laura, I am so blessed to get to have you as my aunt and uncle.  You guys just rock and I'm looking forward to our next meeting, whenever/wherever that may be.  I know that I can count on it to be a good time!  You are welcome in Virginia any time you'd like to drop by.

Thank you to Donna for throwing a party at the barn and for making dozens of cookies while still recovering from surgery.  The party was lovely and I'm thankful that you are always kind enough to invite my parents and family members to attend.  I'm glad that my parents and I could help with clean up so that you could sit a little longer with your boys and your grandchildren.  Thank you for taking Josiah and Annika overnight...I hope that they mellow out by the next time they spend the night.  I'm glad that William got to spend a little time terrorizing Nels and visiting with you.  Thank you.

Thank you to Steve for coming up from Austin for Donna's party and then again two days later to watch a gaggle of grandchildren, including two of ours.  We appreciate your time and I love the way you love your grandchildren--it is so fun to watch you interact with them.

Last, but not least, thanks to Peder and Sarah for coming out to the barn and for opening their home for our kids...I hope they didn't leave too much destruction in their wake!  Thanks, guys.

All in all, we had a great stay.  We will probably come back.  OK, we'll definitely be back...!

Rachel you are most certainly welcome and do not ever doubt that you are "worth it". I don't recall laughing as much as we did New Years eve as I did, and it wasn't the beer. How much fun was it to be all together in one place again, if only for a few days? I am glad to hear that the trip home was the opposite of the trip to Minnesota. Sometimes God just has to smile on you.

Mom here. Yep, was SO nice! I cried when it was over but then I usually do that when we have all our kiddos together and have so much fun but then have to part ways. Sigh. Good memories! Looking forward to many more! Love ya all!

I'm very happy you were here and grateful for the time I got to spend with all of you. The time goes so fast! I wish it wouldn't.

Thankfully, you had an uneventful trip home. Those are the best kinds. I don't blame you for enjoying your milder weather. You should!! Give the darlings a big hug from me, please. I miss all of you.
