Enjoyed the pictures. Did you find turkey on the menu? Hope so although I don't remember my mother fixing turkey every Thanksgiving.

Hans and Joe look like bookends in that one picture of them admiring the view. Speaking of which, how tall is that tower? It seems to me that Toronto has one that is similar. Hopefully we will see you soon, in the flesh that is.

Hans does smile for photos every once and awhile...the shocker is that we got one of him smiling AND with his eyes open!

Dad, Hans says that the tower is 217 meters. He loves not doing the conversion for me and seeing me squirm with pain...math is not my thing, you know? Hopefully you can figure it out.

Andrew, we often joke that Annie is Hans in female form. The resemblances, not only in looks, but in likes and dislikes, is amazing.

First Baseball Game

Is there any past-time quite as quintessentially American as baseball? Today was Josiah's first baseball game. Well, technically, it is teeball, but in a couple of years he will graduate to full-fledged baseball. His first game was meant to be last Saturday morning, but we got rained out. Today was gorgeous, a nice hot sun with a good cool breeze. Both teams batted twice. I wish I could say for sure that this is two innings, but I'm not certain. I used to think I knew what an inning was, but I seem to recall a conversation with someone in which my ideas of baseball were corrected. Peder? What constitutes an inning? Josiah did well...he has a tendency to goof off a little bit in these situations. He has inherited this tendency from his mother, I will freely admit. A Long Day on the Road

Yesterday was an(other) extremely long and stressful day. Here's how it was supposed to go: we would all get up, have a pleasant breakfast, get ready to go, get in the cars and have a pleasant and scenic trip to New Jersey with a nice stop for some lunch at McDonald's. It's a three hour trip down to Jersey, so I figured if we left by 9:00 a.m., we'd get Hans' car through the processing center, stop for lunch and be back on the road by 2:00 at the latest. Home to Newport by suppertime. We did have a nice breakfast, we did get on the road by 9:10 a.m. and our trip was pleasant and scenic until we reached East Lyme, Connecticut. Hans was following me on I-95. We were cruising along in the fast lane, when all of a sudden in front of me, at maybe a distance of two city blocks I saw a truck's tanker rise up in the air, fall to the ground and start to slide, long-wise across the freeway, towards us.
