Nessie
Just a couple other random things before I sign off for a few days (however shall you three people survive?):
- Our new Audi arrived last week.
- Hans was so excited when we saw it that he opened the door right into Annika's nose. It was beautiful.
- The only complaint that we have is that it is a lot less red than we were hoping. It's more burgundy than red. It sure looked red from the paint sample in the brochure. I guess it's one of the bad points of buying a car sight unseen. It is still a lovely, lovely vehicle.
- You guys should see the manual for this car...first, it comes in this little portfolio thing that is so cute, I want to get dressed up, put on high heels and use it as my little "clutch" bag. Second, there are so many gadgets and gizmos in this thing that we need a tutorial DVD. Hans read the entire thing. I tried and got very quickly confused and bored.
- Oh, did I mention that we can't acutally get Nessie until tomorrow? She's being detailed at the local Audi dealership (yeah, the one where they acted all snooty with us).
- We're calling her Nessie because at one point, Hans made a comment that we weren't ever going to see this vehicle, like "it's a damn unicorn" and I made another witty repartee about the Loch Ness Monster. So Nessie she is. Not terribly Germanic, but it'll do.
- Woo-hoo, Nessie has an MP3 hookup. No more listening to CDs...
- Completely unrelated, but I like bullet points: just finished "The Pillars of the Earth" and I guess will plunge into the sequel tonight. It was good, not crazy great like I expected. Looooooooonnnngggg.
- I got a book at the PX the other day called "The Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson that looks good. It's subtitle is: Murder, Magic & Madness at the Fair That Changed America. It's based on a true story about a serial killer who lured his victims to the World's Fair (1893) in Chicago. Ooooh, murder and Victoriana. It promises to be good. But it will have to wait until after the other Ken Follett tome.
- I am downloading Season 1 of "Mad Men" because I keep hearing how awesomely bodaciously great it is. And I refuse to give HBO $44 to download Season 4 of "Entourage", especially when the library should get it soon. It's good, but it's not my favorite HBO series. I requested Season 1 of "Rome" from the library too. Anyway, I'm still mad at HBO for getting rid of "Deadwood". Idiots.
That is all.

Oh, maybe you're gonna be driving Nessie around, eh? Hope Annie doesn't develop a fear of the car. Send pix when you can.
I remain one of your faithful readers...

See?
Is it?
Oh. My. God.
No, it's not a Monty Python production; trust me. Take a look here, and see. If nothing else, John Hurt in drag as Caligula is worth it. :]
