Torpor
I kind of love the word torpor. It's one of those whatchamacallit--words that sound like their meanings. Spellcheck is completely confused by my interpretation of that word, so if someone knows how to really spell "onamotapea", please let me know. I have to admit that that word kicks my butt. You all know I'm usually an excellent speller.
Anyway, torpor. We spent the entire day today in our hotel room. Hans got out because the Vikings game wasn't being televised on any of the channels we get. Too bad, so sad. So he got to sit at the officer's club and drink beer and watch football. He's still watching football, seven hours later. I'm glad that the Vikings won, actually, that's good...keeps Hans in a decent mood. Ebullient, even. There, take that onamotapea!!
Josiah, Annika and I had an excellent nap this afternoon. I know that I slept for at least an hour, the kids slept for closer to two. Tonight we'll try to get everyone to sleep at a reasonable hour. It's not like we have to get up early tomorrow. Our flight doesn't leave until after supper. It's going to be a long night tomorrow. Everyone say a little prayer for us, OK?
The day actually went quickly, even though we were extraordinarily lazy. I have our bags packed, except for the small load of laundry that will get done tomorrow morning. The lodge has deigned to let us stay in the bunker until 1:00 (an hour later than regular checkout). We're not sure what we'll do after that. Probably head over to the airport, maybe stop at Barnes & Noble or Target to kill some time. Maybe not Target. I have a hard time just "looking" and I've said my goodbyes to Target too.
OK, day number four to say something nice about Hans. Thanks for going out to watch the game today. Even though that left me alone here with the kids for five hours, it was nice to be alone and snuggle up with Josiah for a nap. It was nice having alone time. Thanks for letting me sit in the shower this morning for about 40 minutes...I enjoy the challenge of trying to run the Lodge out of hot water. Thanks for picking up some more Tylenol for Annika and a Hershey bar for me. Thanks for finally changing the channel and allowing us to watch something, anything besides football.
OK, guys. I may have time for one last post tomorrow, otherwise it's off we go. We'll write from the other side of the pond.
