Last Day at the Beach

Continuing on in my super-positive trend of titling each September post with the word "last" in it...

Our last trip to the beach for the season.  We discovered this little strip of beach in July and visited it many times over the hot summer.  It is the perfect little bayside beach--no rough waves, very shallow and features lifeguards during the summer season.  I'm sure we will start visiting it again next June when temps start heating up again, but yesterday it was 75 and breezy.  We had the beach to ourselves.  This is "cold" to Virginians, I guess.  The water did feel cooler, but it was nice to sit on the beach and not sweat to death and walk across the beach without the sand frying your feet!

The kids had early dismissal yesterday.  It looks to me like Larchmont does this at least once a month, presumably for teacher training.  It's nice though--a 1.5 hour freebie to do something fun while most everyone else is still in school.  And so, they chose to go to the beach.

What news to report?  Oh, you know that cruise that we're taking?  It turns out that I over-exaggerated where we are stopping.  I was under the impression that we were stopping in Quebec and in Prince Edward Island.  Nope.  I have no idea where I got that idea.  Maybe it was a different cruise we were looking at.  Here is the schedule:

Baltimore, Cruising Day, Portland, Bar Harbor, St. John's (Bay of Fundy), Halifax, Cruising Day, Cruising Day, Baltimore.

I can't say that I'm not a little disappointed.  I thought we were stopping in a couple more places, though how we would have done all of that in eight days, I don't know.  I need to check the fine print a little more.  We're going to have a great time anyway and I'm still excited about Halifax and St. John's, but my Anne of Green Gables heart is a little broken about PEI.  Oh well, maybe next time, eh?  Anyway--the cruise is fast approaching and I'm getting excited and a little nervous about leaving the kids.  I haven't been away from them for this long....well, ever.  They will be in good hands, but it's still a little daunting.

School is going fine for everyone.  Will had a rough week in that he cried when I left him at school both times and had a bad day yesterday.  The teacher said that he seemed a little cranky and that he took a couple swipes at different kids.  Not surprising.  He woke up on the wrong side of the bed and did NOT want to go to school.  He's certainly not a ball of sunshine every day and I told the teachers that--I'm not one of those parents who lies and says my kid is a precious joy every day.  Hopefully next week will be a little better as he continues to adjust.  He made a craft yesterday!  His first little preschool keepsake.  And he was fine after five minutes of bitter weeping, according to the teachers.

I went to to Target, so I wasn't there to witness it.  I did yoga during his school time on Tuesday.  My body is still in pain.  My ribs...I seriously feel like I broke a rib.  What yoga pose makes my RIBS ache like this?  I will try Zumba again soon, as soon as I get over the fact that I can't dance or tell right from left when I do try to "dance".  I have to let it go and just have a good time.  Very hard for this Type A!

Tonight we have our first big fundraiser for Larchmont, the RAT Race.  Hans is running the 5K, Josiah is running the 1K and Annika, Will and I are walking the 1K.  Afterwards, there's a big party with pizza and fun for the kids.  Looking forward to a productive weekend with a little downtime and maybe another shot at Zumba on Sunday...

Happy Friday!

I love the beach photos! What joyous expressions on their faces. Don't you just love the sound of the waves?

Your cruise sounds great. You'll be seeing some nice places, plus your days at sea should be awesome! Watch for dolphins. I have seen some off the coast of Massachusetts.

Have fun at school tonight!

Day at the beach looks great for everyone. Love the pictures of the 3 of them. They are all at such cute ages.

Your cruise will be great. We stopped at Portland. I liked it. Bar Harbor was great. I bought a jacket there that I really like and wear it all the time because it is so warm. And it was only $19.00. I will admit that Quebec knocked my socks off and PEI was my favorite. I am looking forward to hearing about it.

I like the beach picture with your toes in the foreground, nice touch. I think that that area of Canada would be a good driving target sometime. I've read lots of road articles about how beautiful it is. Se you soon.
