Oceana Air Show
As the title would indicate, we dragged the kids out to the Oceana Air Show in Virginia Beach yesterday. Josiah was especially unhappy at being "forced" to go...so about half of the time, the rest of us didn't have fun. Then they managed to calm down and reprioritize and after having some (very expensive air show) lunch, we all got into a better mood and enjoyed the rest of our time there. William just chilled in the stroller--we didn't hear a peep from him...the jets doing fly-bys didn't even startle him. Anyway, we had a decent time, but as I was telling Dad, there was a lot of down time between flying exhibitions and there weren't very many aircraft on the ground to look at. I was hoping to see some BIG planes, but the biggest thing they had was a Fedex plane, go figure. Everything else was jets...the Fokker and the bi-plane were kind of neat and the requisite Mustangs. That's a picture of Josiah sitting in the seat of (correct me if I'm wrong Dad) a Texan--a WWII-era training plane. I almost threw up with fretting because of course Josiah went straight up to sit in it and stepped on the wing flap (yeah, I'm good with the terminology) of course right where it says "DO NOT STEP". Luckily, the older gentleman who was hoisting small boys and girls into and out of the cockpit was not overly surprised by this and we both quickly grabbed him and set him straight. Seriously, that guy had to be over 70 and lifting heavy small kids over his head...tough old bird!
Other than that: I opened the last box on Friday. Well, the last box of the HHG shipment. Our unaccompanied baggage is still coming on Thursday, but that will be just a few things. We have taken 4-5 loads to the Salvation Army and Hans made a last run to Best Buy for electronic recycling last night. I started hanging up some pictures. Hopefully the new couch will come soon as I am waiting to hang pictures until we get it here and in place.
School is going fine. Annika's gymnastics are going fine. Josiah lost another tooth yesterday while we were walking into the air show. Will is walking everywhere and last week started to refuse pureed baby food, so he's all about eating little bits of everything we give him. No more Gerber for him, thank you! He had a bottle of whole milk yesterday morning for the first time. I'm looking forward to turning his carseat around in a couple of weeks...!
