Veteran's Day at Fuji

Super tired after a day of shopping in Yokohama and my first FRG board meeting...1,285 pictures of our trip to Fuji will have to do.  Ladies and gentlemen:  Fuji.

Where else would we have lunch?

The shrine...so tired, can't look it up...there's a sign further down.

Astonishingly well-behaved children at the shrine.

Impossible to shoot a bad picture here, truly...

Stone lanterns lining the path.

This tree is over 1,000 years old.  I'm pretty sure Josiah, Annika and William could care less.  It took all my powers of persuasion to get them to sit together on a tree that some samurai probably rested on.

One of my new favorite Japan pictures.  Got it framed in perfect symmetry.

All the red leaves from the Japanese maples.

This is a stage or pavilion in the center of the courtyard.

You MUST double-click this one. Do it.  Do it now.  You are welcome.

Wow...even the kids were hushed by the beauty.

See, here's the name.

Kind of looks like the Black Hills...

Our ride.  Zoom, zoom.  I should have taken a pic of my awesome new bumper sticker courtesy of Michele!  This is how I ride!

Not the optimal time of day to be shooting Fuji...this is the best I could do.

And now, somehow, it is 9:30 p.m. and I still have to go up and try to read about WWI for 7.2 minutes before I fall asleep and wake to do it all again tomorrow.  Busy, but happy.  Hope you all are too!  Sayonara!

These photos are incredible! What a lovely place – so serene and worshipful. I'm impressed with the fall foliage, and loved seeing the grandkids again - as well as Hans. Happy Veterans Day, Hans! I wrote a thank you to you on my blog.

The best photo of a great group of photos, is the one with two red maple leaves, without a doubt. You are right without the shrines, it does look a little like the Hills. It must be more fun for you, with the kiddos a little older and more able to fend for themselves.
Rachel, what great photo's. I love the one with the kids sitting on the tree. Thanks for taking us along.
